We are slowly expanding our herb and spice bulk selection. Today we added Green Cardamon Pods, Raw Carob Powder, Asafoetida Powder (Hing Powder), Ras El Hanout Spice Blend (a essential Moroccan spice) Spanish Paprika powder and Black Pepper powder (we only carried the black peppercorns – as well as the white ones) to our excellent offer.

These spices and ingredients complement our extensive offering of culinary ingredients. I do not believe you will find any other place in Edmonton and possible in Western Canada that offers such a wide assortment of bulk herbs, spices and cooking/baking ingredients – many of which are certified organic.

Many items we can’t get at the moment in a certified Organic version but being bulk certainly helps address many other environmentally negatives that regular over packaged herbs and spices cause.

Sometimes it shocks people when they see a bulk product on our shelves priced in kilograms. They see certified organic bay leaves in a container for $65.75/kg on one of our shelves and think that is a lot of money. What they may not understand is that it takes about 4,000 leaves to make a kilogram! One of my earlier blog where I did a price comparison on an organic bottle of bay leaves fro Safeway where it was being sold for $6.09. This works out to over $1,200/kg. When you compare apples to apples then it is VERY well priced. I very much suspect that the same savings would be found right across the board on our offering of bulk herb and spices.

PS – do bring in your own containers and bags since we are also trying to reduce our collective footprint from the over consumption of containers. The bottles you already have make for a wonderful container for your new bulk spices from us.

So please consider buying your herbs, spices and cooking/baking ingredients in bulk – save money, save packaging and help save the planet one refill at a time.
